After receiving a notice from Professor Alba that our project needed more simulation and design work, our team decided to do more research on possibilities and simulations over the spring break. We studies more deeply the specs and functionality modes of the different components involved in the project. The objective was to be able to build Matlab Simulink blocks that reflect the reality of the actual project. Meaning that we want all the parameters in the simulations to reflect the actual specs of the components.
We also worked on updating the Final paper to reflect our current work on the project, adding progress in the implementation and simulation.
The team had to order a new wind turbine for the project. The previous turbine had a built in inverter that was making in generate DC power, but our charge controller only accepts AC as input for the wind turbine. We could not find a converter that was able to work with it. The new wind turbine came in during the spring break and we worked on assembling it and building a stand for it. We had to go parts shopping for the stand and make research to build an optimized and safe stand. This wind turbine generates AC power, so will fit the needs of the charge controller.
