We are back for our last and final undergraduate semester. This week, we met with our faculty advisor, Dr. Adel to discuss our progress and ask him some other pending questions. Some of our project components are also available in the lab and we marked out a workspace to build our prototype.
Part of the pending questions we had was the implementation of our micro grid controller. On Dr. Adel’s advice, we met with Dr. Alba to figure out a way to execute a controller. Based on our meeting with her, she helped us understand that we need to find a controller that would sense a certain quantity (voltage or current) from the output of the distributed generation (DG) sources (PV panel and wind turbine) and based on that information, the controller can make a power flow decision.
Our ideal circuit would have the DC loads working solely on the DG sources with the battery acting like a buffer.
